PS. You should check out the 2007 feature 'United Red Army', which is an incredible Japanese feature about the Red Army Faction throughout the late '60s and early '70s. Literally the only movie I've ever seen where cookies are criticized for being reactionary. You will love it, I promise.
And Bob Avakian is still alive and well in Berkeley and milking the Revolutionary Communist Party brand for whatever it's worth (which is not much - though somehow their retail outlet, Revolution Books, is still a going concern just a block from UC Berkeley). I'm not sure about the RCP's relationship with the Weather Underground, but I believe Avakian was involved in the formation of the Peace and Freedom Party (which, ahem, is the party with which I'm registered). I also have a vague memory of the RCP coining the phrase 'politically correct' in the early '80s but I'm less sure about that. Someone needs to write a history of PC and how it turned into 'woke'.
My memory of watching 'Carlos' (which is excellent) revolves around it airing on the Sundance Channel on the same day they started interrupting programming with commercials. I haven't watched the Sundance Channel since then...
